Main differences

An interim list, 2 months into my midwestern experience:
  • Guys here have much more hair. I mean, not just long hair (which most men in town seem to harbor), but also lots of facial hair. And not cute goatees, but full facial hair, 70's-style. In general, lots of the guys here could have been placed in 1976 with no problem.
  • The weather is by far the most popular topic of conversation. Not that there isn't a good reason for it - there is - but it's already been getting on my nerves. Can't wait for spring, just to see what we all talk about when it's not so creatively wintry outside.
  • BCA rules are oh-so-different from APA rules. And yes, that means that I got myself on the local BCA pool league. Full report to come after my first match, next Tuesday.
  • My bank is sending me hand-written "thank you" notes. Chase would never, ever do something like that.
  • Cab drivers are White. Well, almost everybody is.
My best purchase so far: an FM transmitter to play my iPod in the car. No more classic rock!*

*Radio stations here play classic rock. All the time. A L L the time.
