Ice storm

This is the most peculiar weather phenomenon I have ever encountered. If you look closely, you'll see that the tree branches are covered with a thick layer of ice. It also means that we're spending the day indoors and have cancelled most of our weekend plans, since - and I quote - outdoor conditions are "life threatening".

winter can be real pretty :D if you stop to smell the icicles.

it's funny how it changes so rapidly... we had cold and warm weather alternating over the last couple of weeks. some poor guy had parked his car next to the curb, on a heap of snow by campus. we saw it turn into a deep pond a few days later, and by friday it was frozen solid. i wonder if the car will be there till spring break, hehe..

Nice pictures :). I think the most annoying thing about ice storms is having to scrape it off your car...or maybe you have a garage?

Both.
Explanation: Our neighborhood lost power yesterday around 4 PM, so naturally we decided to head to the bar. The car was safely in the garage, but we had to open the garage door manually (as there was no power). The (very old) garage door never quite reconnected to its hinges, so now the car is standing outside.

I actually find the scraping satisfying, on some deep primordial level.

you should get a shovel and clear the snow from your entire front yard. that will give you a great feeling of accomplishment. ;)
