Visiting his family

The weekend was great. I met R's parents and his sister and her family. They were the perfect hosts - we did nothing but eat and drink all day, and would have stayed longer had it not been for a meeting in our department tomorrow.

On our way there, we stopped at some country restaurant (Iowa-Seed-Restaurant-something?), where I had a pork pot roast for the first time. It's basically a huge bowl of pork. Outside the restaurant there were tractor rides, as well as the following:

His parents live right by Naperville, a small suburb outside Chicago. R showed me downtown Naperville on Saturday, and on Sunday we celebrated father's day with too many drinks on the patio and later dinner in an unusual Chicago restaurant, right across the street from where the
St. Valentine's Day Massacre took place.

We drove back today through some major rainstorms, and since I haven't seen Jen in 10 days, within 10 minutes of my arrival back in town, she and I were out drinking and exchanging stories. The best part of the night was being joined by our landlords Kurt and Tom, who also ended up paying for the night, which we only found out much later.

Landlords:

R and I are both are a little incredulous over how well this is going. He even braved my Israeli music without complaints. We'll try to spend some time apart in the next couple of days, though I'm not sure whether we'll be able to.
