Tuesday

I had a good Tuesday.

Yard:
The morning was dedicated to working in the back yard with Jen. Now that we have patio furniture, we feel highly motivated to improve the general look of things. Ryan helped us get rid of all the stray weeds and sow grass, and now we can't wait for it to grow.

Pool:
I won all my games. Having lost last week, I really needed some ego boost, and I got it last night. I'm also enjoying Bruce's company a lot. Bruce is my team captain and one of the best players (and nicest people) I've ever known. He's in his fifties, and is undergoing chemotherapy treatments for his recurring throat cancer. He also has to use a voicebox in order to speak. I no longer smoke during pool.

Raccoons:
I had to break my car in the middle of Lucas street on my way home from pool, as a raccoon family was crossing the street. It was dark and I only saw them in the last minute, and barely managed to stop in time. Mother raccoon saw me coming and realized right away that they should retreat, but her pups didn't know what to do and started wondering everywhere - some running toward the middle of the road, some sticking close to her and refusing to move. She eventually gathered them and they all raccoonned their way to the safety of the sidewalk.
I have only seen one raccoon before last night - in my driveway, at midnight, in February. And I've heard really bad stories about raccoons. I can't help it though - I still get so excited by the wildlife in my own town.
