I saw a chipmunk in my back yard today. For those of you who may be unaware of it, chipmunks are the cutest animals, and they certainly outcute squirrels by far.
The bugs I find in my house are very different from what you find in New York or in Tel Aviv. No roaches, just all sorts of smallish beetles and spiders. They're much easier to deal with. I also discovered that dead ladybugs are hard to clean - I was cleaning the windowsills in my kitchen (as I just opened the windows for the first time), which meant discarding of dead flies and ladybugs. Dead flies: Easy to clean. Dead ladybugs: Very slippery. Not easy at all.
Lastly in the spring theme, there are wild mushrooms in the grass in front of the engineering building, which I cross every day on my way to my office. They have just sprouted a few days ago, after the first major spring rain. Between the mushrooms and the ladybugs and chipmunks, this place is a little fairy-tale-ish for a city girl like myself.
