It's fall already, and no ladybugs yet. I'm still waiting for hundreds of ladybugs to attack - or, as everybody here keeps correcting me, "Japanese beetles" - though from my online research it looks like Japanese beetles don't look anything like ladybugs. Hmm.
So I've started my own ladybug count. So far, the most I've seen in my day is 5 ladybugs in the kitchen of my old apartment yesterday - so I'm going to start from there.
More news: I sold my living room set on craigslist in half a day. I never realized how well craigslist worked in Iowa City. Craigslist is HUGE and very active in NYC, but much smaller in Iowa City, so naturally I had my doubts about its effectiveness - no more! Now that I know that I can sell my old things with ease, I'm more relaxed.
Tonight we're going to the Bob Dylan - Elvis Costello - Amos Lee show. Even Iowa City attracts some big names every once in a while!

Considering that the population of Asian lady beetles reached critical mass a couple of years ago, it is not surprising that you haven't seen that many.
Iowa Extension would probably be a better source.
